Software engineers and drone entrepreneurs

Arriving with a massive trailer, bigger than a SUV, we needed plenty of parking as we needed to get our prototype Pyka drone down to the Sth Island. Resting Kiwi provided lots of space, everything was safe allowing us to leave the trailer while we went mountain biking for a few days! We had a great time.

Grandparents came too!

Visiting from China, this family of four loved every moment of Resting Kiwi – especially how close the Great Lake is!

Alex and Friends

Where do we start!

We were visiting the North Island and meeting up with friends from UK in Taupo. Resting Kiwi stood out as it was so close to the lake and we wanted to be able to swim after a day exploring. Jane was such a great host she welcomed our friends who were staying elsewhere (they wished they weren’t!) and helped with a whole lot of extras for the barbecue we cooked in the courtyard which is an added bonus.

Definitely recommend. Fantastic place.

Pauline & Neville

Every so often we just want to get out of Auckland and enjoy other parts of NZ.

Resting Kiwi is a place where you can kick back, relax or fire up and get as active as you want. Nev and I both row so being right at the lakeside meant we were on the water in our single sculls whenever we wanted.

Jane was a superb host, knew the area really well and we managed to include mountain biking and trout fishing. We are definitely coming back.

Ashley Baldwin

I had an absolute blast staying with Jane.

This was my first trip outside of America on my own and staying at Resting Kiwi was so much fun. Jane had a rescue boxer that was total mischief and I loved hiking, shared meals, talking and enjoying fine wine with her.

The apartment is perfect. I felt really spoilt.

Nady Persons & Travis Blotsky

Coming over to New Zealand for a conference we wanted to head out of the city to somewhere we could do some exploring.

Resting Kiwi, Great Lake Taupo is fantastic, close to the lake and a beautifully furnished spotless apartment. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Thanks so much Jane.

Roberta & Keith Brown

We saw the Resting Kiwi website and just knew that this was the place for us to stay at Great Lake Taupo.

The native birdlife and proximity to the lake was stunning and relaxing. Jane is very friendly and we enjoyed joining in with one of Zoe’s ‘rabbit hunting at twilight’ sniffing expeditions at nearby Whakaipo Bay. In cat it was all so enjoyable we ended up staying longer.

Thanks Jane – we will stay in touch!

Matt & Maria Smith

We chose Resting Kiwi as jane makes it clear that she enjoys guests and is happy to share her knowledge of local experiences, home cooking and culture.

Arriving by motorbike on a chilly evening it was great to be invited to share dinner by the fire – Matt being quite taken by the WW1 bayonet!

We hope to come back soon.

Yonas Surjo & Friends

Jane was a super welcoming host and became part of our Iron Man support team with fresh baking on arrival.

Resting Kiwi has two bedrooms meaning my friends could also stay. There is plenty of room in the garden to organise bikes and other gear and I loved the fact it was so close to the lake meaning a final training swim was just a walk down the driveway.

We couldn’t have chosen a better Great Lake Taupo place to stay!

Gayle Rappaport

My daughter and I loved being at Resting Kiwi. Its warm and well appointed – if you want to feel at home then this is the place to be! Jane’s advice on which experiences to choose, including skiing for my daughter, saved us time and money. She’s a great host, fireside conversations and wine is a must in winter!
